Deaf people

There are 2 languages used by deaf people to communicate.  These are:

  • SEE (Signing Exact English)
  • ASL (American Sign Language)

EE (Signing Exact English) is harder to learn than ASL. ASL is an actually language with its own vocabulary and grammar rules.

SEE is closer to English but is harder to use. You have to sign every single word and every single grammatical ending (ing, ed, er, etc.) and therefore its longer and more time consuming to learn.

The vast majority of Deaf individuals only use ASL. You will usually only see "SEE" in older Deaf adults. While it is easier to learn SEE after you know ASL, ASL is much easier to learn first, and is much much more commonly used.
